Grade 1 Homeschooling

We used these resources in Grade 1 (age 6 to 7) while we were in Quebec. Under that system, English was our primary language and French was being taught as a second language.

We used the Reading Eggs/Mathseeds to cover the core competencies for English language arts and Maths. The lessons and games were engaging and this combined with reading library books was more than enough to make progress throughout the year.

English

Reading Eggs – Covers Kindergarten and Grade 1/2

Kindergarten/Prep Levels A-D, Lessons 1-32
Year 1/Grade 1 Levels E-H, Lessons 33-64
Year 2/Grade 2 Levels I-L, Lessons 65-96

Reading Eggs Eggspress – covers Age 7 – 13, 44 maps

IXL English Language Arts – tracks progress according to Quebec competencies. We didn’t like this resource. It felt too much like being under pressure to take a test with heavy penalties for wrong answers.
